As a Senior SACT Nurse, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality chemotherapy nursing services to patients, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals throughout the treatment journey.
- Ensure continuity of evidence-based nursing care for patients undergoing chemotherapy, assessing health, health-related, and nursing needs, and initiating appropriate steps for effective care.
- Work autonomously, providing clinical leadership, and ensuring all patients have an accurate plan of care, which reflects the assessment undertaken and incorporates the issues and recommendations made.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in intravenous access, central venous catheter management, venepuncture, and chemotherapy delivery, including anaphylaxis and extravasation management.
- Experience in intravenous drug administration and chemotherapy administration.
- Sufficient post-registration nursing experience in oncology or a related specialty to be confident and competent in using the required skills.
- Ability to work accurately and reliably under pressure, making decisions, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.
- UKONS SACT Passport or completion within three months of appointment.
- Full training and qualification in venepuncture and cannulations, with experience of working with different types of central venous access devices.
- Recognition and management of neutropenic sepsis.
