The Role Overview
We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant at Nelson and Colne College (candidates may be required to work across various locations).

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering high-quality educational support to individuals or small groups of students with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as additional literacy and numeracy support, while implementing recommended inclusion strategies and collaborating with curriculum colleagues for a unified support approach. This encompasses both in-class and out-of-class support, educational excursions, and work placements.

• Documenting, assessing, and modifying support strategies throughout the academic year as necessary using institutional systems.

• Assisting students in utilizing specialized equipment and ensuring they comprehend the significance of assistive technology, promoting its use both in and outside the classroom to foster independence.

• Keeping accurate records of the support provided and its impact on the learner using institutional systems.

• Contributing to Annual Reviews for students with Education, Health, and Care Plans.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Minimum qualifications in English and Maths at GCSE Grade 4 or Level 2.

• Relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or Teaching and Learning support, or a willingness to pursue such qualifications.

• Level 2 qualification in IT or demonstrated practical IT skills.

• Understanding of various additional needs and their effects on an individual's learning capacity.

• A flexible, student-centered approach.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
