Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Media Relations Specialist to become a vital part of our organization on a full-time, permanent basis.

This position offers a competitive remuneration package, starting at £36,648 per annum (subject to experience).

The successful candidate will be a team player, strategic thinker, and adept at building relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate closely with the Senior News and Media Officer to cultivate positive media exposure for the Mayor and the Combined Authority. Your collaborative skills will enhance their visibility and influence across regional, trade, and national media platforms.
  2. Oversee daily proactive and reactive media activities that align with the Combined Authority's Corporate Strategy and Forward Plan. We are looking for someone who can contribute to effective strategic initiatives.
  3. Establish and nurture professional connections with regional and national journalists across various media formats, including broadcast, digital, and print. You will also assess and analyze the impact of media coverage for the Combined Authority and the Mayor.

Candidate Profile:

In-depth knowledge of Central Government, Local Government, and Devolution.

A minimum of 2 years' experience in media relations (print, broadcast, online).

Proven track record in public relations, media management, and effective collaboration with journalists.

Expertise in drafting press releases, speeches, and other communication materials.

Strong news judgment and proficiency in pitching to diverse media outlets.

Experience in engaging with Leadership Teams/Senior Officers and managing complex issues.
