We are currently offering a rewarding opportunity for a part-time Administrative Coordinator within the Psychological Medicine department of the Cancer Directorate. This innovative service is growing to provide essential psychological evaluations and treatments for patients receiving care at the Cancer Centre.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive administrative support and patient screening in collaboration with the Consultant and nursing team as the service evolves.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Efficient management of clinic operations, ensuring timely completion of patient appointments and lists.
  • Regular communication with patients to follow up on incomplete questionnaires, which involves discussing their mental health during cancer treatment.
  • Providing guidance and support to patients during challenging times, while exercising discretion to escalate any concerns to clinical staff as necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in all relevant databases, including electronic patient records.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and excellent communication abilities, demonstrating empathy and understanding to ensure patients receive optimal care and service. Familiarity with database management is advantageous but not mandatory, as comprehensive training will be provided.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the provision of comprehensive secretarial and administrative services to the clinical team.
  • Lead the management of patient lists and clinic schedules, ensuring compliance with NHS targets and Trust policies.
  • Identify patients and generate SMS lists for symptom check-ups from clinic records, including both new and returning patients.
  • Engage with patients via telephone to complete questionnaires that have not been submitted electronically, ensuring proper documentation of responses.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Good general education (5 GCSEs/BTEC grade C or above or equivalent), including Mathematics and English.
  • Previous administrative experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within the NHS or public sector.
  • Training in electronic patient records (EPR).
