About the Role

VVB ENG is seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to lead our electrical design team in delivering top-notch engineering solutions for our clients in the Power, Utilities, and Infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate electrical design activities across multiple projects, ensuring seamless execution and compliance with sector standards.
  • Plan, develop, and review electrical design work, ensuring alignment with project requirements and VVB ENG's engineering procedures.
  • Manage design registers, meeting minutes, and drawing registers, adhering to VVB ENG and project standards.
  • Ensure design risk assessments align with installation parameters and prepare Design Management Plans.
  • Maintain communication with clients, suppliers, construction managers, and consultants to ensure project coordination and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the commercial discipline to track design changes and variances.
  • Work with the planning department to schedule design, installation, and testing works, providing accurate assessments and adjustments to maintain project programme.
  • Support the Head of Electrical Engineering in annual performance reviews following approved procedures.
Requirements
  • Apply technical skills to manage electrical design deliverables across multiple projects, integrating with other functions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of electrical design processes and associated compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in Low and High Voltage (up to 33kV) power distribution system design and engineering, including HVAC support in Power, Utilities, and Infrastructure sectors.
  • Utilise 2-D and 3-D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools such as BIM for project coordination.
  • Have exposure to BIM and design modelling standards.
  • Possess substantial experience in a Design Manager role within Power, Utilities, and Infrastructure Design and Engineering projects.
  • Hold a recognised degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
