Position Overview
We are excited to present a rewarding opportunity for the position of Quality Assurance Pharmacy Specialist at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
In our organization, the Pharmacy Aseptic Services are responsible for the preparation and dispensing of patient-specific, aseptically produced treatments, which include cytotoxic preparations, monoclonal antibodies, CIVAS, Clinical Trials, and OPAT.
We seek a candidate who demonstrates meticulous attention to detail, outstanding organizational capabilities, and the ability to operate under tight deadlines. A highly motivated individual with excellent teamwork abilities and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will be essential for fostering collaboration with outsourced contractors and service users, including clinicians, nurses, and managers, to achieve favorable outcomes.
The successful applicant will join the Quality Assurance team, collaborating closely with the Aseptic Units Accountable Pharmacists and other pharmacy team members to deliver superior Quality Assurance Services, ensuring a safe and efficient pharmaceutical service to various wards and departments across the Trust.

Main Responsibilities
The role encompasses a variety of tasks, including:
- Overseeing daily operations and management of the Quality Assurance Service
- Coordinating and planning workloads effectively and accurately
- Ensuring proper storage and handling of pharmaceuticals
- Maintaining and enhancing GMP documentation
- Providing technical training and validation for Aseptic Unit staff
- Conducting appraisals, one-on-one meetings, and performance management for relevant QA personnel
- Completing in-house training programs to ensure competency in each area
- Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines
- Maintaining knowledge and demonstrating competency in Quality Control/Quality Assurance issues, Health & Safety at Work, and COSHH
- Implementing quality-monitoring systems and ensuring results meet acceptable standards
