Role Overview:
As the Strategic Portfolio Delivery Lead, you will be instrumental in driving delivery excellence across strategic transformations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of approximately 10 delivery professionals, overseeing end-to-end project and solution management from initiation to release across all strategic initiatives.
  • Manage business outcomes by establishing Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and metrics (cost, time, quality) to evaluate the success of initiatives, making necessary adjustments in collaboration with the Strategic Portfolio Management and Governance Lead.
  • Develop and implement a Testing Strategy for strategic initiatives, ensuring robust controls are in place prior to transitioning changes into Business as Usual.
  • Ensure the consistency and accuracy of data outputs from all initiatives to support portfolio reporting and governance requirements.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to Demand Management and Project Management across the portfolio to maintain high standards.
  • Act as a point of escalation for Project Managers, serving as a trusted resource to mitigate initiative risks.
  • Collaborate closely with the Strategic Portfolio Management Leadership team and the Portfolio Change & Communications Manager to identify and address potential resistance to change.
  • Work with the Strategic Portfolio Delivery Lead to ensure effective resource allocation for strategic initiatives, maintaining a comprehensive resource plan that outlines timelines, resources, and dependencies.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, delivery teams, and the broader business.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation while identifying opportunities to implement best practices for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of transformation initiatives.
  • Guide and oversee direct reports in achieving their goals and objectives, providing periodic performance feedback.
  • Demonstrate experience in leading and managing a diverse team of permanent staff and contractors across various locations.

Qualifications:

  • Recognized Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, PROSCI Change Management).
  • Degree/MBA or equivalent practical experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Experience:

  • Over 8 years of experience leading professional teams.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, build relationships, and influence others.
  • Experience in data-driven decision-making.
  • Essential project management experience.
  • Experience in the insurance sector is crucial.
