As an Assistant Buyer at Currys, you will play a key role in supporting the Senior Buyer to deliver a compelling range of products to our customers. This is a fast-paced role that requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Senior Buyer in managing the SharkNinja partnership, ensuring alignment with the overall commercial supplier strategy and category strategy.
- Develop a deep understanding of the future technology roadmap with SharkNinja, enabling the category to plan ahead for changes in customer trends and demand.
- Support the Senior Buyer in negotiating product ranges, including cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, and stock availability.
- Collaborate with the Go To Market manager to develop in-store activations and above-the-line campaigns.
- Negotiate promotional funding support to drive sales while maintaining margin in line with financial objectives.
- Pricing the product range in line with agreed category CPI targets.
- Manage promotional plans and sales out allowances.
- Work closely with the Senior Buyer and category planner to secure supplier support to drive additional sales and margin where opportunities exist, and mitigate risks against committed financial objectives.
- Address store feedback specific to range and promotions.
- Conduct daily competitor checks to ensure CPI targets are met and inform the Senior Buyer.
Requirements:
- Established experience in buying or a similar role within a commercial function.
- Strong planning, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills to enable the right actions for the category.
- Numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales, profit, and cash.
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, capable of working cross-functionally to achieve desired results.
- Customer champion with excellent commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs.
- Good working knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as MS Office workflow tools.
- Marketing/Merchandising/Retail/Business degree or equivalent.
