About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented HGV/light vehicle mechanic to join our Transport Fleet team at Tameside Council.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, testing, diagnostic and repair work to our large fleet of HGV's, light vehicles, plant and specialist equipment.

You will work closely with our team of vehicle/plant fitters and have a supportive manager who is keen to facilitate your development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine maintenance, testing, diagnostic and repair work to our fleet of vehicles and equipment.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure efficient and effective maintenance and repair operations.
  • Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Operator Licensing requirements and undertakings.
  • Use computer-based diagnostic equipment to diagnose and repair faults.
  • Work at height and possess a comprehensive set of tooling relevant to vehicle maintenance.
