Salary: Grade F. SCP 17 £28,770 SCP 22 £31,364 plus pension, ongoing training, tool allowance, and enhanced rates where applicable.
This position currently offers a discretionary market supplement up to a maximum of £2,594 per annum, in accordance with the Council's Market Forces Scheme and is subject to annual review.
Hours: 36 Hours per Week over 3 days (Wednesday to Friday) plus additional contracted hours during peak seasons.
Base Location: Tame Street Depot, Stalybridge.
Assessment Date: To be arranged.
The Role
As a member of our team at Tame Street, Stalybridge, you will be a motivated and skilled HGV/light vehicle technician dedicated to maintaining our Transport Fleet's operational efficiency.
This role presents an opportunity to apply and enhance your existing expertise in conducting MOTs and taxi compliance assessments. During available periods, you will perform routine maintenance, diagnostic evaluations, and repair tasks on our extensive fleet of HGVs, light vehicles, plant machinery, and specialized equipment.
About You
The ideal candidate will be organized, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be customer-oriented, hold a valid driving license (LGV Category C preferred), and have completed NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance/Repair. Candidates with backgrounds in light vehicle or agricultural mechanics are encouraged to apply, as training will be provided to the right individual.
