Key Responsibilities

The primary duties associated with this position include:

  • Assisting the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) in upholding meticulous records for all students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Creating precise agendas and documenting minutes from all meetings concerning students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Establishing and overseeing the SEN documentation system (including emails and records of telephone conversations), as well as managing the archiving, retrieval, and appropriate disposal of SEN information.
  • Collaborating with primary and feeder schools, as well as external services, to ensure the receipt of all necessary SEN information.
  • Transmitting SEN information to receiving schools.
  • Acting as a liaison on behalf of the SENCO with key staff members and external agencies to guarantee that students with special educational needs and disabilities receive exemplary care and support.
  • Communicating with parents of students with special educational needs and disabilities on behalf of the SENCO.
  • Supporting the SENCO in overseeing the assessment and testing processes for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Assisting the SENCO in managing all aspects of record-keeping related to students' access arrangements.
  • Helping the SENCO maintain schedules and rosters for teaching assistants.
  • Addressing queries via email, phone, and other communication methods as needed.
  • Performing general office tasks such as photocopying and providing refreshments.
  • Completing any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the SENCO.
  • Monitoring medical and individual Health Care Plans for students with medical conditions.
  • Organizing academy-wide training sessions on supporting students with medical conditions as necessary.
  • Preparing reports and letters as requested.
  • Coordinating all documentation for Annual Reviews and recording the meetings.
  • Collaborating with SEND regarding SEND consultations.
Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students.
  • Qualifications equivalent to A Level or higher.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office.
  • A robust work ethic and a commitment to diligence.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Outstanding organizational and planning capabilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
