Highway Maintenance Supervisor

Role Overview:

In the position of Highway Maintenance Supervisor, you will oversee a team tasked with managing highway and related construction projects. Your main responsibility will be to address reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with performance and quality benchmarks while nurturing positive interactions with the community. Additionally, you will be integral to emergency response initiatives and winter maintenance efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Direct and manage a team, offering guidance and support to guarantee effective workflow and adherence to safety regulations.

Maintenance Oversight: Coordinate and manage reactive maintenance operations, competently and safely addressing highway-related emergencies.

Quality Control: Ensure that all work aligns with specifications and quality standards, performing necessary inspections and evaluations.

Safety Adherence: Maintain compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, implementing safe work systems and site safety protocols.

Traffic Management: Strategically plan and execute traffic control measures to minimize disruptions and ensure safe traffic flow.

Resource Management: Evaluate site conditions to determine the most effective construction methods and resource allocation.

Staff Development: Train and mentor team members, supporting their qualification training and skill enhancement.

Emergency Preparedness: Engage in emergency response services and adverse weather operations on a scheduled basis.

Requirements:

Comprehensive understanding of statutory regulations, including the Highways Act and Health and Safety legislation. Expertise in road traffic regulations, including EU and UK driver laws. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders. Prior experience in a supervisory role within highway construction or maintenance. Willingness to work outside standard hours as necessary for emergency response and winter maintenance.
