About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at John Hampden Surgery. As a key member of our primary care team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the health and wellbeing of our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat patients with minor illnesses and acute care needs
  • Review and advise patients on their health and wellbeing, making referrals to other healthcare professionals as necessary
  • Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective, adhering to the NMC code of conduct and local policies and guidelines
  • Provide assessment, screening, treatment, and health education services, including:
  • Dietary advice and health screening
  • Blood pressure checks and urinalysis
  • Health education and advice on lifestyle and wellbeing
  • Phlebotomy and routine injections
  • Contraception and routine immunisations and vaccinations
  • Removal of sutures/clips and baby immunisations
  • First registration checks and health surveillance
Provide general and specific health screenings to patients, referring to other healthcare professionals as necessaryUndertake management reviews to meet quality and frameworks targetsConduct minor illness assessments and provide guidance to patients under the supervision of our Same Day GPCollect pathological specimens and perform investigatory procedures requested by GPsParticipate in administrative and professional responsibilities, including:
  • Accurate and legible recording of patient consultations and treatments
  • Up-to-date clinical computer system records
  • Accurate completion of necessary documentation
  • Collection and maintenance of statistical information
  • Attendance and participation in practice meetings
Maintenance of equipment and stock relating to patient careReport any problems to the Practice ManagerRequirements
  • Nursing experience within a primary care setting
  • Experience of working within a team
  • Experience of minor illness and acute care
  • Experience of dealing with all age groups, including children and vulnerable patients
  • Experience of working in primary/secondary care settings
  • Experience of working in a GP practice or Primary Care Network
Qualifications
  • Hold a Qualified Nursing Qualification and be registered with the NMC
  • Hold Minor Illness and/or Prescribing qualifications (preferred)
  • Qualified in Phlebotomy
