Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced General Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in helping us navigate legal complexities and make informed legal decisions to meet our ambitious growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to the Supervisory Board and the Audit and Risk Committee on potential legal and risk aspects in support of the firm's commercial objectives.
  • Appoint and oversee relationships with external counsel for business and commercial activities, excluding employment law but including any group litigation.
  • Coach, develop and mentor our senior in-house lawyers in the firm on their path to General Counsel.
  • Partner with the Alter Domus Academy to support the design and creation of compliance training to ensure all employees are fully aware of their legal and compliance responsibilities.
  • Drive a culture of compliance and risk control to mitigate financial, operational and reputational risks.
  • Promote and build the Alter Domus brand and culture both internally and externally, acting as an ambassador and role model to our people, clients, and customers.
  • Maintain a relentless focus on cost and budget discipline, driving a culture of accountability.
  • Ensure the company maintains the highest Environmental, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) standards.
Requirements
  • 20+ years' experience as General Counsel and/or as a Senior Partner from a Law Firm.
  • Proven track record as a General Counsel or Senior Partner with deep and broad experience of providing companies with legal advice on commercial and market transactions.
  • Deep understanding of the listing rules and requirements on listed companies from a legal and governance perspective.
  • Experience in working with founder-led and/or private equity owned companies on a fast growth trajectory.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a global mind-set, allowing you to partner effectively across your region and beyond with agility and flexibility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – influencing and building trust quickly, navigating complexity and ambiguity with confidence and negotiating with tenacity and focus.
  • Decisive and persuasive to achieve the results and adept at engaging with C-level executives and high-profile clients to provide constructive challenge underpinned by the law.
  • Comfortable operating at all levels with confidence and political sensitivity.
  • Strong commitment to high integrity and ethics.
