Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Legal & General. As a key member of our Asset Management division, you will play a critical role in providing expert legal advice and support to our Private Markets investment teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide robust legal advice on corporate/M&A transactions, including negotiating, executing, and managing transactions in close connection with external counsel.
  • Support the business in general corporate advisory matters, including reviewing investment papers and obtaining internal approvals.
  • Assist deal teams with due diligence investigations and corporate governance matters in connection with transactions.
  • Deliver high-quality advice within tight timeframes, meeting commercial needs and driving process change within the legal team and the wider business.
  • Advise, coach, and assist deal teams in managing legal matters, providing training to internal stakeholders to support self-service/self-resolution.
Requirements:
  • Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years' post-qualification experience in a leading law firm or in-house.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant statutory, regulatory, and common laws, including those applicable to corporate law in a major financial services group.
  • Experience in advising on a broad range of general corporate matters, including mergers & acquisitions, disposals, minority investments, and consortium/joint venture arrangements.
  • Familiarity with funds transactions, private equity, and/or energy/infrastructure transactions is highly desirable.
  • A commercial mindset, good judgment, and the ability to identify potential problems and find solutions.
