Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our team at Absolutely Recruitment. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Finance Director in the management of the day-to-day function of the Finance department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Assist the Finance Director in the preparation of monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, control account reconciliations, and all other supporting schedules for management information packs.
  • Financial Analysis: Have a full understanding of the numbers reported and be able to speak knowledgeably regarding budget variances.
  • Annual Budgeting: Assist with the preparation of the annual budget for the group.
  • Audit Support: Liaise with auditors and provide requested audit information to ensure a smooth and timely audit process.
  • Nominal Ledger Management: Maintain nominal ledgers, ensuring a clear audit trail for all entries.
  • Accounting Systems: Undertake a range of duties using the company's accounting systems, including the preparation and input of journals, production of accounts, and analysis as required.
  • Bank and Cash Management: Monitor and manage bank and cash transactions, including online banking.
  • Internal Support: Provide support to all areas of the Finance department and take on ad hoc tasks/analysis as required by the Finance Director.
  • Electronic Payments: Responsible for raising and administering sundry electronic payments and processing business card expense claims.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Undertake daily bank reconciliation, cash flow forecasting/monitoring, and maintain the housekeeping of the online banking system.
  • Internal Customer Liaison: Liaise with internal customers, ensuring that internal and external queries are dealt with punctually and professionally.
  • Cover and Support: Provide cover where necessary for invoicing/payments/cash collection and funding areas as typical in an SME environment.

Person Specification:

  • Accounts Experience: Extensive accounts experience and knowledge of accounting procedures/processes.
  • SME Environment: Experience of an SME environment (desirable).
  • Visual Basic: Proficient in Visual Basic (desirable).
  • Quality Framework: Experience of working within a quality-driven framework.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Ability to produce accurate work to tight deadlines under pressure, with attention to detail.
  • Autonomy and Teamwork: Ability to work autonomously as well as being an excellent team-player.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally in small meetings.
  • Problem Solving: Problem-solving ability.
  • Articulation: Articulate.
  • Accountability and Integrity: Accountable and possess high levels of integrity.
  • Telephone Manner: Confident telephone manner.
  • Qualifications: ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
