About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Planning Specialist to join our team in the South West region. As a key member of our regional energy planning team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing regional energy strategies that support the transition to a cleaner, greener, and more affordable energy system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the South West energy system, including energy demand, supply, and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including local government, energy companies, and other regional teams, to gather and validate energy data and insights.
  • Contribute to the development of regional energy strategies, including the South West Regional Energy Plan (SWREP), and ensure alignment with national energy policies and targets.
  • Work closely with the central team to develop and implement geospatial visualizations and data analytics tools to support regional energy planning.
  • Represent the National Energy System Operator (NESO) in regional energy planning forums and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local government, energy companies, and other regional teams, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
About You

We are looking for an experienced energy planning professional with a strong understanding of the energy sector, including energy scenarios, whole energy systems, and geospatial data modeling. You will have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into easily understandable messaging for non-technical audiences.

You will be a strong team player, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different regions and functions. You will also have a strong understanding of project management principles and be able to coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders effectively.
