Global Advocacy Support Specialist

London, Greater London, United Kingdom IPPF Full time
Location:

This position is available globally, with potential bases in various international cities.

Role Objective:
  • To oversee a multi-national advocacy initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) aimed at improving legislative and policy frameworks that support sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), safe abortion access, comprehensive sexuality education (CSE), and gender equality at various levels.
  • To collaborate with other relevant funded initiatives, ensuring coordination, alignment, and synergy among projects.
Role Context:

A significant number of individuals worldwide continue to face barriers in accessing high-quality, rights-based sexual and reproductive health services. The landscape is further complicated by growing opposition to SRHR and a world increasingly affected by natural disasters and conflicts. Access to safe abortion care is often underfunded, stigmatized, and criminalized, presenting multiple challenges, especially for marginalized communities. Coordinated resistance also undermines the delivery of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), which is essential for the well-being and protection of children and young people. Anti-rights and anti-gender movements are increasingly obstructing all aspects of SRHR, creating tangible barriers to the realization of rights.

IPPF supports Member Associations (MAs) in fostering a conducive environment for abortion care and CSE. By engaging closely with key stakeholders and communities, particularly those often excluded from conventional health systems, MAs work to shift social norms, policies, and legislation that hinder access to abortion information and services. IPPF facilitates connections between MAs and progressive movements across nations, enabling the exchange of practices, strategies, tools, and insights.

About IPPF

The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a global provider of sexual and reproductive health services and a leading advocate for universal access to sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR). We are a collective of 149 national organizations dedicated to working with and for communities and individuals, having delivered over 1 billion cumulative services in recent years.

We are actively seeking individuals to contribute to our Come Together–Strategy 2028, aimed at revolutionizing IPPF and enhancing our capacity to support SRHR for those who are often excluded. This strategy commits IPPF to influence laws, policies, and norms through feminist action and international solidarity, driving real and lasting impact.

Our mission is urgent. We have delivered on our promises and advocated for justice and equality. We are committed to bold and feminist actions that ensure choices regarding our bodies, sexual lives, and overall well-being. Everyone deserves a fulfilling and healthy sexual life, free from violence, shame, or criminalization. We stand in solidarity with women, youth, and marginalized individuals, fostering care, action, and support.

  • IPPF is an equal-opportunity employer. As a prominent global human rights organization focused on equality, empowerment, and the eradication of discrimination and poverty, we embody social justice principles.
  • We embrace a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, intergenerational, and diverse work environment. Applications are particularly encouraged from women, individuals living with HIV, those with disabilities, and individuals with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities.
  • IPPF is dedicated to the safety and protection of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Our recruitment and selection procedures reflect this commitment, and we expect all employees, volunteers, contractors, and partners to uphold this standard.

IPPF has been made aware of fraudulent job announcements circulating via email from sources falsely claiming to be associated with IPPF. These communications may attempt to solicit money from recipients and are not affiliated with IPPF, which does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
