Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Line Cook to join our passionate culinary team at Château de Mercuès.

Working as a chef in our esteemed establishment requires a blend of culinary expertise and a strong commitment to excellence. Our kitchen environment is dynamic, catering to a diverse clientele, and we value every team member's contribution to delivering an exceptional dining experience.

Responsibilities of a Line Cook

Prepare and cook dishes following established recipes and guidelines within the designated kitchen section. Apply specific culinary techniques to ensure that the quality, flavor, and presentation of the dishes meet our high standards. Assist in the organization and setup of the assigned kitchen area prior to service, ensuring all necessary ingredients and equipment are available and functional. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace at all times. Monitor and uphold the quality and consistency of dishes throughout the cooking process, adjusting seasoning as necessary and reporting any issues to senior chefs. Help manage inventory for the assigned section, ensuring proper stock rotation and storage, and promptly notifying senior chefs of any shortages. Collaborate closely with the culinary team, communicating effectively to ensure smooth operations and timely service. Contribute ideas for new dishes and improvements, working alongside senior chefs in menu planning and development. Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring proper handling and storage of ingredients. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and participate in available training programs. Take ownership of your section, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization. Set a positive example for less experienced team members. Complete assigned tasks and assist colleagues as needed. Continuously improve culinary skills and knowledge by staying informed about industry trends and techniques. Present dishes confidently to guests, with the ability to explain menu items clearly and professionally. Seek guidance from senior chefs and engage in training opportunities. Maintain a professional appearance in a clean uniform, with attention to personal hygiene.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience Required

Culinary qualification or relevant experience in a professional kitchen. Essential food hygiene certification. Previous experience in a similar role within a professional kitchen. Strong culinary skills with knowledge of various cooking techniques and kitchen equipment. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality dishes. Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, with the ability to adhere to them strictly. Excellent teamwork and communication skills for effective collaboration with the kitchen team. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the restaurant's needs. Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks efficiently in a busy kitchen environment. Ability to act as a First Aid Aider or Fire Warden in emergencies.
