Corporate Tax Assistant Manager

As a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager within the Corporate Tax Division, you will report directly to the UK Tax Manager, managing UK tax operations. Your role encompasses the timely preparation of UK corporation tax returns, ensuring compliance, and aiding in international tax submissions. Exceptional communication skills are crucial due to regular interactions with global colleagues. You will also require strong project management abilities and adaptability to meet deadlines while coordinating with non-tax colleagues. A high degree of self-motivation and independence is essential, along with responsibilities for supervising staff within the Corporate Tax Assistant Manager role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- UK corporate tax compliance (tax return and statutory reporting) and advisory functions:
- Preparation of corporation tax and deferred tax figures and disclosures for inclusion in the UK statutory accounts for the group;
- Preparation of UK corporation tax returns and computations for the group, including claims for double tax relief, rollover/holdover claims, group relief claims, patent box and research and development claims, and corporate interest restriction calculations;
- Preparation of Overseas UK branch corporation tax returns and computations for the group, collaborating with advisors as necessary;
- Collaboration with the broader NOV Tax, Finance, and Commercial teams, providing guidance on the structuring and implications of commercial transactions, including cross-border transactions;
- Advising on UK tax implications of potential mergers and acquisitions and restructuring activities;
- Assisting with HMRC inquiries and audits as required;
- Working with external providers on UK tax compliance and advisory matters as needed.
- VAT Management
- Support the UK VAT group maintenance, oversee the monthly VAT return process, and serve as a point of contact for VAT inquiries.
- Manage all aspects of UK corporate tax administration, including:
- Preparation of estimates to support quarterly instalment payments, calculating and arranging for reallocation or repayment of overpayments.
- Overseeing the UK group's General Partnership Agreement.
- Collaborate with the UK Tax Manager to ensure robust internal controls are established and proactively identify solutions to mitigate risks and seize opportunities.
- US GAAP Reporting:
- Assist the wider Finance team with quarterly and annual US GAAP tax reporting requirements.
- Draft ad-hoc correspondence with HMRC.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff members.
- Assist the UK Tax Manager with any other relevant activities as they arise.
- Qualified CA/CTA (mandatory)
- Strong technical expertise in UK corporate tax (mandatory)
- Prior experience in a multi-jurisdictional environment or within an accounting firm handling cross-border issues (mandatory)
- Knowledge of UK VAT (preferred)
- Familiarity with tax software - Onesource (preferred)
