Corporate Tax Assistant Manager

As a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager within the Corporate Tax Division, you will report directly to the UK Tax Manager, overseeing essential UK tax operations. Your responsibilities will encompass the timely preparation of UK corporation tax returns, ensuring compliance, and aiding in international tax submissions. Strong interpersonal skills are crucial due to regular collaboration with global colleagues. You will also need exceptional project management abilities and adaptability to meet deadlines while accommodating the schedules of non-tax personnel. A high degree of self-motivation and independence is vital, along with supervisory duties for the Corporate Tax Assistant Manager role.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- UK corporate tax compliance (tax return and statutory reporting) and advisory tasks:
- Preparation of corporation tax and deferred tax figures and disclosures for incorporation in the UK statutory accounts for the group;
- Preparation of UK corporation tax returns and computations for the group, including double tax relief claims, rollover/holdover claims, group relief claims, patent box and research and development claims, and corporate interest restriction calculations;
- Preparation of Overseas UK branch corporation tax returns and computations for the group, liaising with advisors as necessary;
- Collaboration with the broader NOV Tax, Finance, and Commercial teams, providing guidance on the structuring and implications of commercial transactions, including cross-border transactions;
- Advise on UK tax implications related to potential mergers and acquisitions and restructuring activities;
- Assist with inquiries and audits from HMRC as required;
- Engage with external providers (as necessary) on UK tax compliance and advisory matters.
- VAT
- Support the maintenance of the UK VAT group, manage the monthly VAT return process, and serve as a point of contact for VAT inquiries.
- Assist in managing all aspects of UK corporate tax administration, including:
- Preparation of estimates to support quarterly instalment payments, calculating and arranging for reallocation/repayment of overpayments, etc.
- Management of the UK group's General Partnership Agreement.
- Collaborate with the UK Tax Manager to ensure appropriate internal controls are established and proactively seek out and develop solutions to mitigate risks and identify opportunities.
- US GAAP reporting:
- Prepare and assist the wider Finance team with quarterly and annual US GAAP tax reporting requirements.
- Draft ad-hoc correspondence with HMRC.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff members.
- Assist the UK Tax Manager with any other relevant activities as they arise.
- Qualified CA/CTA (essential)
- Strong technical knowledge in UK corporate tax (essential)
- Prior experience in a company with multi-jurisdictional concerns or within an accounting firm dealing with cross-border issues (essential)
- Knowledge of UK VAT (desirable)
- Familiarity with tax software - Onesource (desirable)
