Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Front Desk Receptionist to join our team at Priory Surgery. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive reception service to GPs, health professionals, patients, and other agencies, ensuring the smooth running of GP sessions and other clinics.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive reception service, including triaging and navigating patients to appropriate appointments or services
  • Receive patients and other surgery users, oversee the main reception area, and ensure the smooth running of GP sessions and other clinics
  • Use computerized systems to manage patient data and maintain accurate records
  • Communicate effectively with patients, GPs, and other healthcare professionals
  • Work collaboratively as part of an integrated multi-skilled team

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 GCSE passes or equivalent, including Math and English
  • Excellent keyboard and computer skills
  • Demonstrable communication skills
  • Familiarity with data protection and confidentiality principles
  • Ability to use own judgment, resourcefulness, and common sense
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team
  • Pleasant and articulate
  • Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work in a changing environment
  • Flexibility of working hours/able to work at desired times

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of EMIS clinical computer systems
  • Understanding of all aspects of health and safety
  • Experience of working as a receptionist or in a customer service environment
  • An understanding of the day-to-day functions of general practice
  • Previous experience working in an NHS environment
  • Experience of primary care
