Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Front Desk Receptionist to join our team at Priory Surgery. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive reception service to GPs, health professionals, patients, and other agencies, ensuring the smooth running of GP sessions and other clinics.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide a comprehensive reception service, including triaging and navigating patients to appropriate appointments or services
- Receive patients and other surgery users, oversee the main reception area, and ensure the smooth running of GP sessions and other clinics
- Use computerized systems to manage patient data and maintain accurate records
- Communicate effectively with patients, GPs, and other healthcare professionals
- Work collaboratively as part of an integrated multi-skilled team
Requirements
- Minimum 2 GCSE passes or equivalent, including Math and English
- Excellent keyboard and computer skills
- Demonstrable communication skills
- Familiarity with data protection and confidentiality principles
- Ability to use own judgment, resourcefulness, and common sense
- Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities
- Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team
- Pleasant and articulate
- Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly verbally and in writing
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work in a changing environment
- Flexibility of working hours/able to work at desired times
- Reliability, punctuality, and good organization
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Knowledge of EMIS clinical computer systems
- Understanding of all aspects of health and safety
- Experience of working as a receptionist or in a customer service environment
- An understanding of the day-to-day functions of general practice
- Previous experience working in an NHS environment
- Experience of primary care
