Job Title: Lead FPGA Firmware Design Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled FPGA Firmware Design Engineer to join our team at GE Aviation. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge embedded systems firmware for our power converter systems.

Key Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and FPGA architectures
* Develop and debug firmware for diverse applications, including signal processing, data acquisition, and control systems
* Conduct verification and validation testing to ensure designs meet performance and reliability requirements
* Apply best engineering standards and develop design practices to ensure FPGA designs comply with relevant health & safety and international standards

Requirements:

* Relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
* Strong background in FPGA design and Embedded Software design and programming
* Ability to translate high-level design requirements into efficient and robust FPGA implementations
* Proficiency in VHDL programming languages
* Solid understanding of digital design concepts, including Register Transfer Level (RTL) coding, synthesis, and timing closure
* Familiarity with FPGA-based development boards and hardware description languages
* Design of interface circuits, both analogue and digital circuits including microprocessor, FPGA and memory circuits
* Experience with circuit simulation design tools

Preferred Qualifications:

* Design of SOC (system on chip) circuits, including some appreciation of configuration and software
* Prior experience with high-speed digital design, DSP algorithms, or embedded systems
* Familiarity with FPGA-based development boards and hardware description languages
* Familiarity with PCB design tools such as Altium, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, CAD Star, etc.
* Knowledge of power electronic converter systems and electrical machines
