Job Description

As a key member of the GE Aviation team, you will play a leading role in the development of cutting-edge embedded systems firmware for various electronics used in our power converter systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define Requirements and FPGA Architectures: Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to define requirements and FPGA architectures for diverse applications.
  • Develop and Debug Firmware: Develop and debug firmware for signal processing, data acquisition, and control systems, ensuring efficient and robust implementations.
  • Conduct Verification and Validation Testing: Conduct thorough verification and validation testing to ensure designs meet performance and reliability requirements.
  • Apply Best Engineering Standards: Develop and apply best engineering standards and design practices to ensure FPGA designs comply with relevant health & safety and international standards.
Requirements:
  • Relevant Degree: A relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or significant experience in an electrical design engineering environment.
  • Strong Background in FPGA Design: Strong background in FPGA design and Embedded Software design and programming, with proficiency in VHDL programming languages.
  • Ability to Translate Design Requirements: Ability to translate high-level design requirements into efficient and robust FPGA implementations.
  • Digital Design Concepts: Solid understanding of digital design concepts, including Register Transfer Level (RTL) coding, synthesis, and timing closure.
  • Familiarity with FPGA-Based Development Boards: Familiarity with FPGA-based development boards and hardware description languages.
  • Design of Interface Circuits: Design of interface circuits, both analogue and digital circuits including microprocessor, FPGA, and memory circuits.
  • Experience with Circuit Simulation Design Tools: Experience with circuit simulation design tools.
Desirable Skills:
  • Design of SOC Circuits: Design of SOC (system on chip) circuits, including some appreciation of configuration and software.
  • Prior Experience with High-Speed Digital Design: Prior experience with high-speed digital design, DSP algorithms, or embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with FPGA-Based Development Boards: Familiarity with FPGA-based development boards and hardware description languages.
  • Familiarity with PCB Design Tools: Familiarity with PCB design tools such as Altium, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, CAD Star, etc.
  • Knowledge of Power Electronic Converter Systems: Knowledge of power electronic converter systems and electrical machines.
