Senior Technician Pilot Cutter Opportunity

At Serco, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technician Pilot Cutter to join our Marine Team in Faslane. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the Pilot Cutters and respective barges, mechanically and electrically, to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support planned maintenance and emergency repair work as required.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all onboard systems.
  • Consult with Operations and Technical teams to achieve maximum output and support to operations and vessels.
  • Keep the Operations and Technical Superintendent informed of any issues affecting operational output.
  • Assist with compliance with relevant Oil and Environmental Pollution Prevention Legislation and ensure all responsible officers are familiar with Emergency Procedures and Contingency Plans.
  • Become familiar with vessel construction, machinery, and operating characteristics.
  • Conduct routine planning and maintenance in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
  • Support external contractors in ensuring satisfactory repair work and escort contractors as required.
  • Formulate and return reports as required by the company.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the company and in line with individual qualifications.
  • Support barge operations for assigned barges and fulfill the role of barge operative when conducting operations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Certificate of Competency as an Engineer Officer of the Watch or higher.
  • In-date ENG1.
  • Requisite STCW qualification.
  • Basic Level Management/Leadership training or demonstrable equivalence.
  • Interpersonal skills adaptable to work with a small crew.
  • Knowledge of SMS and the ISM Code.
  • IT awareness.
  • Health and Safety awareness.
  • Marine Industry Background.
  • Understanding of a planned maintenance system (such as AMOS).
