Regional Retail Operations Leader

Alexander Steele Recruitment is pleased to present an opportunity for a Regional Retail Operations Leader to join a prominent and successful FMCG organization, overseeing operations across multiple locations.

Role Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for managing a cluster of 3 to 7 retail outlets, with a team size ranging from 6 to 21 employees. Your leadership will be pivotal in fostering a culture of exceptional customer service, enhancing product knowledge, and ensuring smooth daily operations across all stores.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Development

  • Exhibit exemplary coaching skills to enhance product knowledge and customer service, guiding team members in their interactions with customers.
  • Support the development and training of store managers and team members within your cluster, ensuring ongoing professional growth.
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding and adherence to company policies and operational procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to boost sales performance and implement strategic actions to achieve growth targets.
  • Conduct weekly visits to each store, actively engaging in managerial and operational tasks to meet daily objectives.
  • Oversee performance management, attendance, punctuality, and professional appearance of staff.
  • Educate store teams on key performance indicators (KPIs), incentive programs, and other strategic initiatives.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain high standards of store cleanliness and presentation at all times.
  • Conduct weekly assessments with store teams to ensure compliance with promotional and operational guidelines.
  • Ensure timely completion of all scheduled tasks and reports as required.
  • Stay informed about company updates and commercial strategies, communicating these effectively to store teams.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for both employees and customers, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee accurate processing of staff timesheets and ensure timely payroll submissions.
  • Assist the Regional Manager in executing store development plans and achieving management objectives.
  • Regularly review compliance with loyalty programs, staff discounts, and refund processes.
  • Provide feedback and insights to Head Office as necessary.
  • Ensure operational continuity across all stores, stepping in to cover as needed.

Financial Management

  • Develop staffing schedules to optimize labor costs while remaining within budget.
  • Manage expenses related to supplies and consumables effectively.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding travel and expense management.

Financial Controls

  • Ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed to minimize losses.

Inventory Management

  • Oversee stock management processes, ensuring accurate counting, receiving, and transferring of inventory.
  • Implement effective stock rotation practices to minimize loss and educate staff on troubleshooting to reduce returns.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks in line with operational schedules.

Security Responsibilities

  • Act as a key-holder, ensuring secure opening and closing of retail locations as required.

Additional Duties

  • Provide support to stores in various capacities as business needs arise.
  • Assist in the establishment and launch of new retail locations.
  • Collaborate with Head Office departments to optimize in-store standards, including Marketing, Property, Audit, Operations, IT, and Logistics.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of retail management principles.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a management role within a retail environment.
  • Possession of a valid driving license.
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to changing circumstances.
  • Exceptional customer service and sales capabilities.
  • Experience managing multiple locations is preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop a team.
  • Effective time management skills.
