Position Overview

Regional Retail Operations Leader

Alexander Steele Recruitment is pleased to present an opportunity for a Regional Retail Operations Leader to join a prominent and successful FMCG organization.

Role Summary:

The successful candidate will oversee a cluster of 3 to 7 retail locations, managing a team of 6 to 21 employees. This role requires a hands-on approach to leadership, focusing on coaching and guiding store managers to ensure exceptional customer experiences, comprehensive product knowledge, and efficient daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Development

  • Exhibit exemplary coaching skills, demonstrating extensive product knowledge and customer service excellence while assisting customers with their purchases.
  • Support store managers and team members within your cluster by facilitating ongoing training and development.
  • Ensure a thorough understanding of company policies and operational procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance sales performance and implement strategic actions to achieve growth.
  • Conduct weekly visits to each store, actively participating in management and transactional duties aligned with the stores' daily objectives.
  • Oversee performance management, attendance, punctuality, and professional appearance of staff.
  • Educate and motivate store teams regarding company KPIs, incentive programs, and prioritized initiatives.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain impeccable store standards and cleanliness at all times.
  • Conduct weekly floor inspections with store teams to ensure compliance with promotional and commercial guidelines.
  • Ensure timely completion of all scheduled tasks and reports as required.
  • Stay informed about company updates and commercial strategies, ensuring store teams adhere to these protocols.
  • Guarantee a safe working environment for both employees and customers, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee accurate approval of employee timesheets and ensure timely payroll submissions.
  • Assist the Regional Manager in executing store development plans and management objectives.
  • Regularly check compliance with loyalty programs, staff discount policies, and store refund processes.
  • Provide feedback, product suggestions, and competitor insights to the Head Office as necessary.
  • Ensure all stores remain operational and provide direct support during emergencies or staff shortages.

Financial Management

  • Develop work schedules to ensure labor costs remain within budget and are utilized effectively.
  • Manage expenses related to stationery and consumable items within the stores.
  • Effectively manage personal travel in accordance with company policies.

Cash Management

  • Ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed to minimize losses.

Inventory Management

  • Oversee stock management processes, ensuring accurate counting, receiving, and transferring of inventory.
  • Minimize stock loss through effective rotation and staff training on troubleshooting to prevent unnecessary returns.
  • Conduct weekly inventory counts and spot checks in line with audit schedules.

Security Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the secure opening and closing of retail locations as needed.

Additional Duties

  • Provide support to stores in various areas as required by business needs.
  • Assist the operations team in the establishment and launch of new retail locations.
  • Collaborate with Head Office departments to optimize in-store standards, including Marketing, Property, Group Audit, Operations, IT, and Warehouse.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of retail management.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in store management.
  • Possession of a valid driving license.
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional customer service and sales capabilities.
  • Experience managing multiple locations is preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to coach and develop a team.
  • Effective time management skills.
