Job Summary
The Northgate Medical Practice is seeking a skilled and dedicated Practice Nurse to join our primary healthcare team. As a Practice Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality medical services to our patients, working closely with our GPs and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care, including management of diabetic patients, respiratory management, and wound care.
- Conduct new patient medicals, urinalysis, and other diagnostic tests as required.
- Provide travel clinic services, including vaccinations and health advice.
- Perform ECGs, peak flow readings, and spirometry tests.
- Administer vaccinations, including routine immunizations and childhood immunizations.
- Request pathology tests, such as urine culture and swabs.
- Participate in administrative systems, including maintaining accurate records and advising senior nurses of potential problems or errors.
- Attend and participate in practice meetings as required.
- Undertake home visits as necessary.
Confidentiality
The Practice Nurse will have access to confidential information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, and the practice as a business organization. They will be expected to maintain confidentiality and adhere to practice policies and procedures.
Health and Safety
The Practice Nurse will be responsible for implementing and leading on health and safety and infection control procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment, hand hygiene, and the management of sharps procedures.
Equality and Diversity
The Practice Nurse will support the equality, diversity, and rights of patients, carers, and colleagues by acting in a way that recognizes the importance of people's rights, respecting their privacy, dignity, needs, and beliefs.
Personal and Professional Development
The Practice Nurse will participate in training programs implemented by the practice, including annual individual performance reviews and taking responsibility for maintaining a record of their own personal and professional development.
Quality
The Practice Nurse will strive to maintain quality within the practice, alerting other team members to issues of quality and risk, assessing their own performance, and contributing to the effectiveness of the team.
Communication
The Practice Nurse will recognize the importance of effective communication within the team and with patients and carers, communicating effectively and responding to the needs of others.
