Job Summary

The Northgate Medical Practice is seeking a skilled and dedicated Practice Nurse to join our primary healthcare team. As a Practice Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality medical services to our patients, working closely with our GPs and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care, including management of diabetic patients, respiratory management, and wound care.
  • Conduct new patient medicals, urinalysis, and other diagnostic tests as required.
  • Provide travel clinic services, including vaccinations and health advice.
  • Perform ECGs, peak flow readings, and spirometry tests.
  • Administer vaccinations, including routine immunizations and childhood immunizations.
  • Request pathology tests, such as urine culture and swabs.
  • Participate in administrative systems, including maintaining accurate records and advising senior nurses of potential problems or errors.
  • Attend and participate in practice meetings as required.
  • Undertake home visits as necessary.

Confidentiality

The Practice Nurse will have access to confidential information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, and the practice as a business organization. They will be expected to maintain confidentiality and adhere to practice policies and procedures.

Health and Safety

The Practice Nurse will be responsible for implementing and leading on health and safety and infection control procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment, hand hygiene, and the management of sharps procedures.

The Practice Nurse will support the equality, diversity, and rights of patients, carers, and colleagues by respecting their privacy, dignity, needs, and beliefs.

The Practice Nurse will participate in training programs and take responsibility for their own development, learning, and performance.

The Practice Nurse will strive to maintain quality within the practice, alerting other team members to issues of quality and risk, and contributing to the effectiveness of the team.

The Practice Nurse will communicate effectively with other team members, patients, and carers, recognizing the importance of effective communication within the team.
