Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Practitioner to join our Oncology and Haematology Triage Team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and management to patients with oncological and haematological conditions, ensuring the best possible patient experience and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert physical and telephone assessment to patients contacting or attending the Cancer and Haematology Centre with toxicities and symptoms caused by anti-cancer therapy or a consequence of their disease.
  • Be a defined point of contact for patients/carers for defined episodes/pathways of care and provide clinical care, specialist nursing advice and psychosocial support.
  • Work collaboratively and in partnership with other health care professionals, offering advice to colleagues.
  • Assess health and psychosocial needs of individual patients, and provide care to meet these needs, through a process of shared decision making.
  • Accept referrals to agreed criteria, and work in partnership with other professionals to deliver co-ordinated programmes of care effectively and referring patients to other practitioners as required.
Requirements
  • Registered nurse (part 1, 8, 12 or 15 of register depending on area of practice)
  • Postgraduate level study (HEI level 7) or demonstrable post graduate level working evidenced via a continuous professional development portfolio
  • First level degree (HEI level 5 or 6) in nursing, midwifery or equivalent
  • Relevant specialist post basic programme to Master's Level or equivalent
  • Teaching / Assessment / Mentoring qualification
