Job Title: Oncology Triage Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Oncology Triage Specialist to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Triage Team, you will play a vital role in providing expert advice and management to patients with oncological and haematological conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert telephone assessment and initiation of an initial treatment plan in response to the urgent needs of patients contacting or attending the Cancer and Haematology Centre.
  • Direct the flow of emergency admissions into the Cancer and Haematology Centre, liaising with clinicians, ward co-ordinators and operational managers, developing and maintaining systems for emergency admissions.
  • Work in partnership with patients providing clear information during the assessment phase to promote participation in their care planning.
  • Provide effective support, training and education to junior staff and other colleagues in order to support the delivery of skilled, evidence-based care to patients in response to local, trust and national initiatives which underpin the safe admission and discharge process.
  • Participate in the development and review of management and prescribing protocols to identify clear processes and pathways.
Requirements:
  • Registered nurse (part 1, 8, 12 or 15 of register depending on area of practice)
  • Postgraduate level study (HEI level 7) or demonstrable postgraduate level working evidenced via a continuous professional development portfolio
  • First level degree (HEI level 5 or 6) in nursing, midwifery or equivalent
  • Relevant specialist post-basic programme to Master's Level or equivalent
  • Teaching / Assessment / Mentoring qualification
