Key Responsibilities:- Lead and manage the site operations team to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular safety tours and instill a culture of safety within the operations team.
- Work closely with the Health and Safety Business Partner to ensure safe operations and compliance on site.
- Develop and implement operational plans to achieve business objectives.
- Provide operational support to tenants, customers, and company staff as required.
- Lead process improvement activities to enhance operational efficiency.
- Accountable for all activities carried out on site and ensure safe working practices within the Asset Management Facility (AMF).
- Lead and develop the AMF Daily planning meeting and Daily & Weekly operational planning meetings.
- Ensure absolute compliance to the company's competency management procedure.
- Manage all vehicle moves to minimize disruption and maximize utilization of the site.
- Ensure the welfare of all operational staff, including high-quality facilities, regulated rest periods, and necessary equipment and clothing.
We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager with a strong background in rail operations or heavy engineering. You will have significant operational management experience, strong working knowledge of lean principles, and excellent leadership skills.
Qualifications:- HNC/HND in an Engineering or Operational Management discipline.
- ILM L4 / L5 or management equivalent.
- Project Management qualifications advantageous.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Training.
- iOSH Managing Safely.
- Competent in basic rolling stock maintenance and capacity planning.
- Must have a driving license for motor vehicles.
- Strong team management skills.
- Good at building morale in teams.
- Good working knowledge of performance management, absence, disciplinaries, Training & development.
- Strong Health and Safety knowledge within heavy industry.
- Project Management experience is essential.
- Working knowledge of financials at an operational level.
- Excellent working knowledge of the railway depot operations.
- Excellent knowledge of safe systems of work for railway depot / yard operations.
- Working knowledge of passenger and freight rolling stock systems.
- Good general understanding of rail traction and safety systems.
