Job Overview

This position offers a specialised and confidential administrative support service within the medical education framework. As part of a dedicated team of four administrators, the role involves coordinating various aspects of the medical students' curriculum. Key responsibilities include assisting with examinations and managing specific areas of the medical programme, under the guidance of the lead consultant for each specialty. The areas of focus include Core Clinical Education, Child Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and other essential medical training components. Team collaboration is crucial, especially during periods of absence.

The administration team plays a vital role in delivering a comprehensive training experience for medical students as they rotate through various healthcare facilities. The post holders will work closely with other administrative personnel within the Medical Education department to ensure smooth operations, adhering to departmental and national standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for designated segments of the medical school clinical placement activities, including:
  • Organising Bedside Teaching sessions
  • Collaborating with Consultant Block Leads to create timetables for Core Clinical Education and other teaching phases
  • Managing examination schedules across all years
  • Coordinating revision blocks, electives, and projects
  • Overseeing assistantships as students transition to junior doctor roles
  • Maintain responsibility for specific timetable segments, ensuring compliance with established standards
  • Address student inquiries regarding timetables, ward access, and overall experience
  • Demonstrate flexibility by providing cross-cover and working effectively within the broader medical education administration team.

  • Collaborate with fellow administrators to deliver a seamless service to all medical education office visitors.
  • Maintain accurate and organised documentation to support decision-making processes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of administrative practices and procedures.
  • Implement efficient office management systems to enhance departmental operations.
  • Support team members through training and knowledge sharing, ensuring high standards of practice are upheld.
