Position Overview
We are seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Senior Academic in Aviation Management. In this capacity, you will primarily engage in instructing students enrolled in the BSc (Hons.) in Aviation Management, a comprehensive three-year program designed to facilitate the completion of the ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) theoretical components alongside the degree. While the program focuses on the theoretical aspects of the ATPL, students have the opportunity to pursue their flight training concurrently.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality instruction to first-year and final-year students.
- Oversee the curriculum and ensure alignment with industry standards.
- Collaborate with external flying schools to enhance the educational experience and ensure students are well-prepared for their second year.
- Support second-year students in their academic journey, fostering their success.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the aviation industry and its expectations for pilots. You should have a strong background in aviation, ideally holding an ATPL and experience as a Transport Pilot. While not mandatory, familiarity with PPL (Private Pilot Licence) theory is advantageous. Excellent communication skills are essential, enabling you to convey complex concepts effectively to students. A commitment to providing a high-quality educational experience and ensuring positive outcomes for graduates is paramount.
By the conclusion of the probationary period, you are expected to achieve the relevant level of UKPSF recognition, such as FHEA (Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy). For those new to academia, this will be facilitated through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching program, while experienced educators will follow our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.
