Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiologist to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279). As a Consultant Cardiologist, you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive outpatient and inpatient cardiology service for patients from across the Trust.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will join a team of 6 cardiologists at St Richard's Hospital, Chichester, and will be responsible for:

  • Providing daily in-reach to the Emergency Floor and selecting patients for transfer to the Cardiac Ward
  • Managing outpatient clinic activity and triaging generic cardiology referrals via the ERS system
  • Contributing to the development of a local Cardiac Electrophysiology service and supporting the expansion of the complex devices service
  • Providing consultant input and support for non-invasive cardiology investigation services
  • Teaching and supervising medical students, junior medical staff, and technicians/nurses

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A basic medical degree
  • MRCP or an appropriate specialist qualification
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
  • CCT in Cardiology or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
  • Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Higher degree
  • Training and extensive experience in general cardiology
  • Experience in Cardiology out-patient clinics
  • Experience and suitable training in heart failure or imaging
  • Echocardiography
  • Temporary pacing Understanding of clinical risk management
