In this pivotal role, you will be based at our corporate headquarters, reporting directly to the executive team. Your primary responsibility will be to effectively manage and coordinate environmental operations, ensuring that all objectives and targets are met efficiently.
You will play a crucial role in supporting our project teams by developing and implementing Environmental Management Plans, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Your efforts will contribute to fostering a culture of Quality, Safety, and Environmental stewardship within the organization, particularly through the maintenance of our accredited ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
Collaboration is key; you will work closely with management, clients, and project stakeholders to achieve project goals, refine processes, and implement best practices in compliance management. Your expertise will guide operational decisions, and you will provide coaching and mentorship to elevate our Environmental performance.
Key Responsibilities- Train and develop staff on our Integrated Management System (IMS) and relevant legislative requirements.
- Establish and maintain an audit program for environmental compliance.
- Ensure all personnel are informed about our environmental protocols and receive adequate training.
- Develop and monitor Environmental Plans to support operational goals.
- Engage with internal teams and external agencies on environmental issues to drive improvements.
- Collaborate with leadership to cultivate a positive environmental culture.
- Lead efforts in verifying legal compliance across all operations.
- Organize and deliver environmental awareness events and training sessions.
- Continuously assess and update environmental systems to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
- Manage the audit program to monitor compliance and uphold accreditation standards.
- Guide managers in maintaining compliance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in addressing complex environmental issues through expert advice and support.
- Facilitate the acquisition of necessary environmental permits and consents.
- Contribute to the development of Risk Assessments and Method Statements for various activities.
- Provide comprehensive monthly reports to inform management on environmental strategy and policy development.
- Encourage effective communication and engagement among employees at all levels.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- An IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management.
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
- A strong understanding of the gas and oil sector is preferred.
- Knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations.
- Experience in a complex, multi-divisional organization.
- Current knowledge of environmental principles, practices, and legislation.
- Experience with ISO 14001 audits.
- A comprehensive understanding of statutory compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of Environmental Management Systems.
- Familiarity with construction and project safety protocols.
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage with individuals at all levels.
