About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team as a Clinical Team Lead for our Autism Diagnostic Service. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and support to promote high-quality client-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to the Autism Diagnostic Pathway
  • Work effectively within the MDA team for autism spectrum disorders, providing detailed assessment and advice to aid correct diagnosis for children
  • Work clinically with clients presenting with a wide range of communication difficulties relating to the Autistic spectrum
  • Support the electronic triage process of referrals into the MDA pathway
  • Support and lead on Risk Management
  • Represent Paediatric SLT at strategic level as required
  • Lead on Clinical Governance initiatives/tasks as required
  • Assist in the planning, development, and evaluation of the service
  • Work closely with other members of the hospital team to provide a coordinated service for patients within the Trust
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Significant post-registration SLT experience working with children with social communication needs
    • Recent and relevant clinical experience of working with children with autism
    • Ability to establish good working relationships
    • Relevant ongoing professional and clinical development
    • Experience of working in successful multidisciplinary teams
    • Ability to work within a variety of settings and with a variety of agencies
    • Providing clinical supervision
    • Team management skills
  • Desirable:
    • Experience of use of effective outcome measures
    • Experience of teaching
    • Experience of mentoring staff
    • Working within an autism diagnostic team
    • ADOS trained
    • Wide experience of service development within children's therapy
