Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapy Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapy Specialist to join our team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.
Main Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Salt Team Leader and Therapy Service Lead to develop and implement long-term service plans, ensuring alignment with internal and external demands.
- Develop and maintain high clinical effectiveness by utilizing evidence-based practice and outcomes measurement.
- Promote service development through awareness of service needs and contribution to the training and development of colleagues within and outside the Adult Team.
- Foster an environment that supports education and training through the organization's appraisal system and clinical supervision policy.
- Contribute to clinical governance within the service, including audit, research, and evidence-based practice.
- Develop and maintain local, regional, national, and higher education networks to share information, research, and best practices.
- Provide high-quality clinical services to adults with acquired disorders of communication and swallowing, demonstrating specialist clinical knowledge and skills.
- Effectively manage caseloads and work flexibly across key client groups to provide a responsive and client-centered service.
- Contribute to the management of swallowing and communication within a multi-disciplinary framework, promoting the profile of Speech and Language Therapy.
- Maintain effective liaison systems with Health, Social Services, service user groups, and voluntary agencies.
- Disseminate information regarding client management using various media, spoken, printed, and electronic.
- Attend multi-disciplinary case conferences, ward rounds, and other meetings to ensure informed and holistic client management.
- Provide direct and indirect clinical support and advice to Speech and Language Therapists and other colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team.
- Contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of training for Speech and Language Therapists, other professionals, voluntary agencies, and client and carer groups.
- Provide clinical education for speech and language therapy students and supervision for students from other disciplines.
- Implement changes in the Adult SLT Service planning or delivery.
- Ensure the security, care, and maintenance of equipment, including equipment loaned to clients.
- Lead the development of clinical care pathways and policies relevant to the clinical specialty and the Adult SLT service as a whole.
- Maintain and develop links with other speech and language therapists by attending relevant CENs.
- Support staff in attending Adult SLT team and departmental meetings and provide support with any developments.
- Demonstrate continuing professional development (CPD) and encourage other staff to do so.
- Collect and submit timely and appropriate caseload data to the Trust's information systems.
- Adhere to the core responsibilities of Speech and Language Therapists as defined by the Health Care Professions Council and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Provide first-line sickness management for staff.
- Provide operational oversight for the acute service.
