Consultant in Perinatal Mental Health

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing perinatal psychiatric care to the Solihull area, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient-centered services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide perinatal psychiatric care to the Solihull area, working closely with our multidisciplinary team.
- Reciprocal cover for the community team and inpatient Mother and Baby Unit during the working week.
- Collaborate with other agencies, including maternity services, health visitors, and GPs, to provide timely and appropriate information sharing.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Child Protection teams, Health Visiting Services, and Public Health colleagues.
- Contribute to the development of our perinatal mental health service, including clinical audit and service improvement projects.
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with the following skills and experience:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
- Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983).
- MRCPsych or equivalent.
- Substantial experience of psychiatry, including working with people suffering from severe mental illness, preferably in a community setting.
- Experience of providing psychological and/or social interventions.
- Experience of teaching and training at an undergraduate/postgraduate level.
- Commitment to clinical audit within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to critically appraise published research.
- Understanding of policies and National guidelines relating to Perinatal psychiatry, maternal and Child health.
We would welcome applications from candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
- Additional qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or another relevant field.
- Broad clinical training including both inpatient and community service.
- Specific training in relation to perinatal psychiatry.
- Experience serving a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic population.
- Experience of stakeholder engagement in service delivery.
