About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Perinatal Psychiatrist Consultant to join our team at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide perinatal psychiatric care to the Solihull area, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient-centered services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide perinatal psychiatric care to the Solihull area, working closely with our multidisciplinary team.
  • Reciprocal cover for the community team and inpatient Mother and Baby Unit during the working week.
  • Collaborate with relevant agencies, including Child Protection teams, Health Visiting Services, and Public Health colleagues from the Local Authorities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with primary care providers, including IAPT workers, GPs, and Children's Centres.
  • Contribute to the development of our perinatal mental health service, including the creation of new initiatives and programs.
Requirements
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983).
  • MRCPsych or equivalent.
  • Substantial experience of psychiatry, including working with people suffering from severe mental illness, preferably in a community setting.
  • Experience of providing psychological and/or social interventions.
  • Experience of teaching and training at an undergraduate/postgraduate level.
  • Commitment to clinical audit within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Additional qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or another relevant field.
  • Broad clinical training, including both inpatient and community service.
  • Specific training in relation to perinatal psychiatry.
  • Experience serving a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic population.
