About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Specialist to join our Applications Team in our Technology and Innovation department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development of our Pension System Application, ensuring it meets the requirements of a successful third-party pension administrator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement improvements to our current Pension System Application, leveraging your extensive knowledge and experience in workflow support and development.
  • Collaborate with our Pension Administration teams to review and optimize business processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency savings and automation.
  • Design and implement bulk processing capabilities within workflows for LGPS, Fire, and Police schemes, driving identifiable efficiency savings.
  • Develop a portfolio of Business Development Initiatives (BDIs) to enhance our support capability and reduce reliance on third-party providers.
  • Mentor and train the Systems Team on areas such as SQL, BDIs, and complex calculation issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest UPM developments and best practices, ensuring our systems and documentation are version-controlled.
  • Liaise with other schemes using UPM to share knowledge and suggest improvements to Civica.
  • Represent Working Groups and UPM internal groups, promoting best practices and driving change.
Requirements
  • Extensive recent experience in supporting and developing workflows in a pension administration system, ideally UPM.
  • Ability to evaluate issues and challenges effectively, creating and delivering solutions that improve processes and attitudes within a team environment.
  • Strong logical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take the lead on complex changes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to use evidence and knowledge to support accurate, expert decisions and advice.
  • Attention to detail and innovative thinking skills, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
  • Proven ability to work effectively on own initiative, promoting positive behavior and attitudes.
