About the Role

Pertemps is seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team in Livingston. As a Cost Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Assistant Controller and finance team in achieving business objectives related to output, quality, and cost.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Assistant Controller and finance team in pursuing business objectives.
  • Maintain and improve productivity to meet schedules and customer needs.
  • Ensure timely delivery of customer orders and provide a high standard of service.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement activities to enhance business performance.
  • Undertake other duties as specified by the Assistant Controller.
  • Provide accurate and timely cost accounting information to support management decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to sound accounting principles and identify potential problem areas.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support the pricing of products.
  • Produce and understand variable cost information for operations and senior management.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and journal vouchers.
  • Prepare and understand material usage and purchase price variances.
  • Support other areas of the department as required.
Key Area Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to quality procedures and maintain quality standards.
  • Introduce new or modified parts successfully and ensure compliance with policies and legislation.
  • Carry out health and safety audits and take necessary actions to improve safety performance.
  • Ensure environmental issues are resolved and agree team performance criteria and measures.
  • Assist in setting and achieving targets and maintain good industrial relations and welfare.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are met and practice company housekeeping procedures.
  • Collect data for performance measures and create an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Direct problem-solving activities and develop ideas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with holiday procedures and maintain production information systems.

  • Part-qualified CIMA/ACCA or relevant degree/professional qualification in accountancy.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of internal control systems and procedures.
  • Experience of Sarbanes-Oxley is advantageous.
