Position Overview

As an Inpatient Rehabilitation Assistant, you will play a vital role in our dedicated healthcare team, providing essential support in a full-time, permanent capacity. This position operates within a structured framework, offering a Band 2 salary scale.

This role includes additional financial incentives for working during off-peak hours, including weekends, bank holidays, and night shifts.

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our established inpatient unit, where you will collaborate closely with both nursing and therapy professionals to enhance patient rehabilitation in a supportive environment. Your responsibilities will be hands-on, directly assisting patients with their daily living activities.

Our mission is to foster recovery and well-being, empowering patients to take charge of their health and enhance their independence through meaningful engagement. We adopt a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation, believing that every interaction with a patient can serve as an opportunity for recovery.

This unit also accommodates patients requiring Specialist Palliative Care.

Main Responsibilities

As a member of our support team, you will be trained in various essential skills. Your duties will involve:

  • Providing direct, physical care to patients, including assistance with all aspects of daily living.
  • Collaborating with nursing and therapy teams to ensure responsive care tailored to patient needs.
  • Delivering personal care with a focus on rehabilitation, helping patients regain independence.
  • Supporting patients and their families during end-of-life care.

Key Duties

Your role will encompass a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Promoting and supporting the strategic direction and values of our organization.

  • Assisting with daily living activities, including dietary management, personal hygiene, and continence care.
  • Conducting basic health assessments and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to a positive learning environment.
  • Engaging in clinical governance activities, including audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver proactive care and rehabilitation.
  • Supporting therapy staff in facilitating home visits and therapeutic activities.
  • Encouraging patient self-care and independence.
  • Providing emotional support to patients and their families, recognizing the impact of illness.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Demonstrated commitment to personal development.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Relevant experience in a health or social care setting.
  • Understanding of the needs of older adults.

Desirable:

  • Level 2/3 NVQ in a health-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of the Care Certificate upon employment.
