Role OverviewAs a Lead Engineer in Civil, Structural, and Architectural disciplines, you will engage in a unique role that encompasses the full spectrum of project management. This includes involvement in, or leadership of, projects from initial concept and design phases through to detailed engineering, construction oversight, and eventual decommissioning.
Key ResponsibilitiesYour daily tasks will involve:
- Taking a prominent role within a dynamic design team, focusing on innovative designs of reinforced concrete, steel, and masonry structures for nuclear decommissioning and new build projects.
- Engaging in the design of structures associated with advanced mechanical handling systems and their corresponding process and electrical systems.
- Conducting stand-alone civil and structural tasks across various sectors, including structural inspections and site surveys, primarily within the UK and occasionally internationally.
- Designing structures to accommodate normal and extreme loading scenarios, including seismic considerations.
- Providing technical leadership and serving as the Technical Lead on specific projects as needed.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Delivering nuclear design work, inspections, and construction site support for a diverse range of public and private sector clients.
- Conducting concept and feasibility studies for multidisciplinary design projects.
- Utilizing engineering software such as Tekla and Robot for analysis and design, alongside producing hand calculations.
- Preparing essential documentation including calculations, CDM activities, Basis of Design, Material Specifications, Scopes of Work, and Technical reports.
- Collaborating with Technicians to prepare Revit models and working with integrated multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-profile projects.
- Ensuring all work is conducted with a strong emphasis on safety, both in design and office environments.
- Managing project delivery and mentoring junior CS&A Engineers.
This position is full-time, comprising 37 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements available. Employees may work two days in the office and three days remotely, with flexibility for alternative working patterns.
Essential QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng or MEng).
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with membership in ICE or IstructE, or actively working towards it.
- Security Clearance eligibility, with the ability to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
