Through education, inmates can acquire essential skills, improving their chances of employment upon release and reducing the likelihood of reoffending. Many arrive with limited literacy and numeracy skills, and your role will be instrumental in guiding them through Functional Skills in Maths and English, leading to vocational training opportunities in various trades such as Carpentry, Bricklaying, and Catering.
The prison's education department is equipped with dedicated classrooms and workshops, fostering an environment conducive to learning. You will receive support from a seasoned educational team, with opportunities for professional development and training.
Position Overview:
This is a full-time administrative role within the prison education sector, specifically in a male correctional facility.
The Management Information Systems Coordinator (MISCO) is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to the educational programs. Ideal candidates will possess strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Input and analyze learner data accurately using spreadsheets or databases, ensuring the creation of precise data reports.
- Verify the accuracy and compliance of all documentation and learner records.
- Draft and type various communications, including memos, letters, and meeting minutes.
- Perform general administrative tasks and implement office procedures, maintaining confidentiality of records.
- Process and record resource orders, sourcing appropriate suppliers.
- Manage telephone inquiries and visitor interactions, providing information and acting as a key contact point.
- Maintain records of staff absences and leave.
Position Details:
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday - 37 hours per week
Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Salary Range: £20,104 - £20,835
Benefits: 30 days of annual leave plus bank holidays and up to 5 college closure days.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience in an administrative or secretarial capacity.
- Familiarity with data processing and entry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience in an educational environment is preferred.
- Possess a calm and patient demeanor.
