Position Overview:
As an Autism Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in aiding students with autism throughout their academic journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Personalized Assistance: Provide individualized support to students, ensuring that their unique learning needs and objectives are met.
  • Classroom Support: Collaborate with the classroom teacher to foster an inclusive atmosphere where every student can excel. This includes assisting with lesson planning, managing classroom dynamics, and encouraging social engagement.
  • Behavioral Guidance: Employ techniques to assist students in managing their behavior, cultivating coping mechanisms, and encouraging positive peer interactions.
  • Communication Enhancement: Aid in the development and execution of communication strategies, utilizing visual aids, social narratives, and other resources to improve understanding and expression.
  • Monitoring Progress: Regularly evaluate and document student progress, collaborating closely with educators, families, and other professionals to modify support strategies as necessary.

Qualifications We Seek:
  • Experience: Prior experience working with children with autism or in a special education environment is crucial. Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or similar methodologies is advantageous.
  • Educational Background: A relevant qualification in special education, teaching assistance, or a related discipline is highly preferred.
  • Empathy and Understanding: A sincere enthusiasm for working with children with autism, along with the patience and sensitivity needed to address their distinct requirements.
  • Effective Communication: Strong verbal and non-verbal communication abilities, capable of collaborating effectively with students, educators, and families.
  • Flexibility: Ability to modify teaching techniques and approaches to accommodate the evolving needs of students.
