About The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Procurement Category Specialist to join our team on a Full-Time, Permanent basis.

The Procurement Category Specialist will play a key role in supporting category strategies, formulating commercial and contracting approaches, and managing strategic sourcing initiatives. This position will assist the category team in executing strategies, conducting market research, analyzing supply chain risks, and overseeing the entire sourcing process from planning to contract award, specifically for Direct Gas or Electric products and services.

What You'll Do

This role involves engaging with stakeholders across the organization and externally to build a comprehensive understanding of the supply chain for the designated category. You will lead the execution of strategic sourcing, manage contract negotiations, and oversee contract amendments up to the award stage.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the sourcing strategy for your category and executing standardized processes to ensure optimal procurement.
  • Managing multiple sourcing events and collaborating with stakeholders to secure the best solutions.
  • Conducting market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, providing insights to the category and supplier excellence teams.
  • Delivering value through effective management of tender events for essential products and services.
  • Collaborating with Contract Managers to ensure successful contract execution and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Contributing to forward planning by identifying future needs and ensuring robust forecasting.
  • Developing regional contracts that meet stakeholder requirements.

About You

  • A degree or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Experience in strategic sourcing and category management.
  • Understanding of project management principles with a proven track record of managing multiple projects successfully.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop and manage commercial assessment models to ensure value delivery.
  • Experience in contract development, including making recommendations and drafting new contracts.
