Job Summary

The Associate Merchandise Planner is a key role within the Lids organization, responsible for driving sales and profitability through effective merchandise planning and inventory management. This position will work closely with the Buying & Merchandising team to develop and execute local assortment strategies, ensuring maximum sales and profits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain annual, seasonal, monthly, and weekly merchandise plans to drive sales and profitability
  • Construct merchandise purchase schedules for initial and in-season products, ensuring optimal inventory levels
  • Manage price updates, markdowns, and promotion setups to maximize sales and profitability
  • Analyze margins and IMUs to identify pricing opportunities and risks
  • Provide analytics and reporting to support business decisions and drive results
  • Collaborate with the Allocation & Supply Chain teams to implement consistent and profitable in-season replenishment strategies
  • Develop and maintain tools and reports to support business needs
  • Establish processes and tools to review product assortments and provide data-driven insights

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of retail math and financial reporting
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to operate a computer and maneuver relative software programs
  • Analytic skills to interpret data and drive business decisions
  • Financial and business acumen to evaluate indicators and translate data into actionable information
  • Problem-solving and decision-quality skills to drive effective solutions

  • 3-5 years of merchandising, planning, buying, or equivalent experience
  • Relationship management skills to build effective relationships with business partners
  • Dealing with paradox skills to balance competing priorities and drive results
  • Presentation skills to effectively communicate with peers and executives
  • Influencing and negotiation skills to drive business decisions
  • Planning and priority-setting skills to set objectives and goals
  • Process management skills to identify and articulate processes to drive efficiency
  • Systems and tools acumen to leverage Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word
