Position Overview

This unit is designed to accommodate both outpatient ambulatory patients and features advanced inpatient facilities, including 4 specialized beds. Our collaborative approach integrates the haematology and transplant services with the TYA service, ensuring exceptional care for adult patients with blood cancers and TYA patients aged over 16 with various cancer types.

Our ward consists of 4 beds, including specialized isolation rooms for patients with compromised immune systems. We administer specialized treatments such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and cell therapy, supported by a comprehensive training program and clinical practice facilitators. Our dedicated teams provide round-the-clock care, focusing on therapy administration, symptom management, sepsis treatment, and holistic patient care.

We encourage continuous professional development in a supportive and collegial environment. While prior experience in haematology-oncology or general oncology is not mandatory, candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn about this specialty, including stem cell transplants. Comprehensive training will be provided in accordance with professional conduct standards and institutional policies, within a JACIE accredited setting.

Key Responsibilities

Working hours: The unit operates 24/7, with shifts from 07:30 to 20:00 or 20:00 to 07:30, including weekends and holidays. Additional shifts may vary from 8am-4pm or 10am-6pm.

As a nurse in this unit, you will be expected to:

  1. Administer stem cell and systemic anti-cancer infusions, bolus chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.
  2. Provide multiple lines of oral and intravenous medications to immunocompromised patients while monitoring vital signs and fluid balance.
  3. Communicate effectively with senior nursing staff and the medical team, ensuring a collaborative approach to patient care.
  4. Educate patients undergoing ambulatory chemotherapy, enabling them to manage their treatments at home.

We seek a nurse with strong communication skills, a passion for learning, self-motivation, and excellent time management abilities. A genuine interest in haematology and care for TYA patients is essential.

In-house training is available during a supernumerary period for all new hires, with support from clinical practice facilitators and peer mentors.
