Opportunity:
- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmology Consultant to join our team at The Royal Eye Infirmary. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in maintaining Ophthalmology services and providing routine and emergency care to our patients.
- The ideal candidate will have a specialist interest in Glaucoma and be able to work collaboratively with our existing Consultants to deliver high-quality patient care and develop new patient pathways.
- Our department is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including 3 modern operating theatres and a range of diagnostic equipment. We are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment, with opportunities for professional development and growth.
- The successful candidate will be contracted to 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), with a job plan comprising 8.5 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). The role also includes 5% On Call.
- This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, with the possibility of becoming permanent.
About the Role:
- As a Locum Consultant in Ophthalmology, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our department.
- You will work closely with our existing Consultants and other healthcare professionals to deliver a comprehensive range of ophthalmic services.
- The successful candidate will have a strong clinical background and excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- The Royal Eye Infirmary is located in a beautiful and historic city, with easy access to stunning beaches, Dartmoor's open spaces, and beautiful Cornwall.
- The city has a thriving cultural scene, with multiple zoos, petting farms, and a National Marine Aquarium.

Requirements:
- To be eligible for this role, you must be on the GMC Specialist Register or eligible for admission within six months of interview.
- You will also need to have FRCOphth, MRCOphth, or equivalent qualifications, as well as evidence of a sound ophthalmic training equivalent to that recognised in the UK.
